The Event: One of Earth’s most awe-inspiring and enchanting natural wonders, tropical rainforests play a vital role in your life. Yet many of these ecosystems are under threat, and their destruction endangers our lives outside the forest. Join us for an inspiring discussion about how the health of these wondrous natural habitats and global conservation issues impact all of us, and what we are doing to help.

Dr. Peter RavenOur Speaker: Dr. Peter Raven is described by TIME magazine as a “Hero for the Planet”. He is one of the world’s leading botanists and advocates of conservation and biodiversity. He Dr. Raven is a passionate and energizing voice for the planet’s rainforests and other endangered ecosystems. He is currently President Emeritus of the Missouri Botanical Garden, having served 40 years as its Director. In addition, he is chairman of the National Geographic Society’s Committee for Research and Exploration, and chair of the Division of Earth and Life Studies of the National Research Council. Dr. Raven also is past president and chairman of the board of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the largest organization of professional scientists in the world.
