On April 26 Friends of the Children’s Eternal Rainforest (FCER) celebrated our 10th Anniversary by hosting a First Annual Conservation Awareness and Fundraising Forum at the Saint Louis Zoo.

More than 300 people were introduced to FCER’s mission of protecting and expanding the Children’s Eternal Rainforest and donations at this free event topped $21,000.

Event highlights included a presentation on global conservation issues by world renowned conservationist and FCER Board member Dr. Peter Raven and the presentation of a check for $612.10 by longtime FCER supporter Janet Dittrich’s second and third grade classes from the Fulton School who fundraised for the forest by selling used books.

Dr. Peter Raven is President Emeritus of the Missouri Botanical Garden and served 39 years as its President. Named a “Hero of the Planet” by Time Magazine, Dr. Raven is regarded as one of the world’s leading experts on conservation and was the recipient of the National Medal of Science.
